Terrorism should not be linked to sectarian schools, provinces and areas to justify sympathy for the enemies of humanity - Hamid Moosavi

ISLAMABAD, April 18: The Patron-in-Chief of Supreme Shia Ulema Board Quaid-i-Millat Jafariya Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi has said that he has been saying for 40 years that terrorism should not be linked to sectarian schools, provinces and areas to justify sympathy for the enemies of humanity. Instead of exposing their ugly faces, the government is being humiliated by inviting the banned parties in presidential and ministerial consultative meetings. Not only the names of extremist parties but also their work should be banned. The idea of good and bad proscribed groups should be abolished. Blackmail is so rampant that the state cannot even protest against countries that sponsor and fund terrorists. Unfortunately the way was paved for banned parties to contest elections. These views were expressed by him while addressing a delegation led by TNFJ Punjab President Allama Hussain Muqadisi. On this occasion, he also announced to observe Ayyam Al-Huzn from 7th to 10th of Ramazan to mark the Wisal of Mohsina-e-Islam Malikatul Arab Ummul Momineen Hazrat Khadijatl Kubra (S.A.).

Agha Moosavi said that it is the misfortune for the nation that even the anchors who give daily ‘sermons’ do not know the names and realities of the banned parties. He lamented that violent and extremist groups serve as pressure groups for politicians. The avenues through which the banned parties and their sympathetic peace committees are reaching the Islamic Council of Ideology should be closed, he demanded. He said the proscribed parties continuously visit the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Today, banned parties do not even need to collect hides of sacrificial animals as they own billions and trillions of rupees, he added. He proposed that there is need to also investigate the assets of religious parties on the pattern of NAB action against politicians.

The TNFJ chief said that when the democracy was shattered in July 1977 at the behest of the evil and Zionist powers, the dictator Zia-ul-Haq, like the Umayyads, used Sharia as his shield and spread the poison of bigotry in every nook and corner of the country. The Kalashnikov culture and terrorism was promoted and groups were formed that turned out to declare everyone as non-Muslim and the terrorist activities that started from ‘Hathora Group’ reached to suicide attacks.

Agha Moosavi said that had warned of the foreign conspiracy at the very beginning a terrorist keeps no country. He suggested that there is need to take some steps to end extremism. Enumerating these steps, he said it is necessary to stop foreign aid to all parties, to lodge protest against the countries that sponsor terrorists, to stop participating in elections in the name of sectarian basis or bigotry. Successive governments have provided opportunities for terrorists to thrive on blackmail and intimidation, and for the first time under Musharraf, a series of bans on terrorist groups began, and then a meeting of the banned parties was arranged with President Musharraf under political pressure which was unfortunate.

The TNFJ chief said that in such circumstances, terrorism has to be eradicated. He said that at present 85 groups are banned but all are working under new names. He lamented that the banned leaders participate in elections so much so that they are given tours, gifts and are even awarded; channels invite them for political analysis while the Council of Islamic Ideology nominates them in peace committees. The presence of such elements in a recent meeting presided over by President of Pakistan also provides food for thought, he added. He said that after the APS Peshawar incident such a situation was created in which terrorists could have been wiped out but unfortunately, he said, the National Action Plan could not be implemented in letter and spirit. He lamented that even if the security institutions arrested those accused of terrorism and extremism but they were set free by country’s courts.

The Quaid-i-Millat Jafariya Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi said that if we desire that extremist groups do not blackmail the nation and the country, then the National Action Plan must be fully implemented. He said that the interests of the nation and the country should be given priority over personal and party interests as it is the only way to boost the honour of the country and the nation.
