The message of the Quaid e Millat e Jafariya Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi

In connection with the Universal Ayyam Al-Huzn 22-26 Rabiul Awwal 1433 A.H.

Marking the death anniversary of guardian of the Prophethood and helper of the religion and Sharia

HAZRAT ABU TALIB (PBUH)

The Holy Quran is a source of guidance, key to freedom and success which also guarantees to pull out humanity from the darkness of ignorance towards enlightenment. Almighty Allah in the verse of Nisa of the Holy Quran Says:

“O you who have believed, when you go forth [to fight] in the cause of Allah , investigate; and do not say to one who gives you [a greeting of] peace "You are not a believer," aspiring for the goods of worldly life; for with Allah are many acquisitions. You [yourselves] were like that before; then Allah conferred His favor upon you, so investigate. Indeed Allah is ever, with what you do, Acquainted”. (Surah An-Nisa, verse 94).

According to a tradition, some companions of the Holy Prophet passed through an area where a shepherd was watching his flock grazing. Upon seeing some Muslims coming towards him, the shepherd greeted them with salutations (Salam). These companions thought that he is posing himself as a Muslim to save his life therefore they killed him without investigating and went to see the Holy Prophet  (PBUH & HHP) along with his goats as booty on which this verse was sent (Sahih Bokhari-Tirmizi Tafseer Surah An-Nisa.

Some narrations disclosed that the Holy Prophet  (PBUH & HHP) also said, “first you in Makkah were also forced to hide your faith like this shepherd” (Sahih Bokhari, Kitaab Al-Diyaat).

The above stated verse makes it clear that faith is the name of satisfaction of the heart, therefore, Allah Says in the Holy Quran:

“The bedouins say, "We have believed." Say, "You have not [yet] believed; but say [instead], 'We have submitted,' for faith has not yet entered in your hearts”. (Surah Al-Hujurat, verse 14)

On the criteria mentioned, Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH) was not only a Momin by heart rather he was perfect in his faith as well. Had Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH) declared his faith, he would not have been able to support and help the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) openly. Hiding of his faith and not declaring it as a precautionary measure was in line with the faithful belong to the family of Pharoah who had helped Hazrat Moses (PBUH) by hiding his faith. As Allah Says:

“And a believing man from the family of Pharaoh who concealed his faith said, "Do you kill a man [merely] because he says, 'My Lord is Allah ' while he has brought you clear proofs from your Lord? And if he should be lying, then upon him is [the consequence of] his lie; but if he should be truthful, then some of that where with he threatened you will strike you. Indeed, Allah does not guide one who is a transgressor and a liar”. (Surah Ghafir/Surah Al-Momin, verse 28)

If the faithful belonging to the family of Pharaoh who concealed  his faith to save Hazrat Moses (PBUH) could be called Momin then Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH) who concealed his faith to support and help the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) is difinately is a greater Momin.

His sympathy, sacrifices, and feelings for the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) and bearing all types of problems and difficulties for him, so much so to accept being sieged in Shoabe Abi Talib and not letting harm caused to the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) throughout his life are those facts which cannot be denied by anyone. If Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH) was not faithful then there is a question to be posed to the whole of the Muslim nation; “For what reason did Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH) bear all the hardships with the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and for what was the purpose of his sympathy, love and sacrifice for the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP)?

This spirit of love, sacrifice and feelings for the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) is a clear-cut and bright proof of Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH) being faithful (Kamil Al-Iman). I would like to ask the scholars of Islam to show me even the weakest narration in which Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH) may had quoted complaining to the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) that he curses their gods.

Yes, the history would definitely tell that Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH) used to convey the complaints of the atheist and infidels of Makkah to the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP), “the infedels say that you curse their gods. Oh, the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) it is their desire that you may not curse their gods”. (Seerat-e-Nabvia, with annotation of Seerat-e-Halbia, edition-I)

Uttering the word “their gods” and not uttering “our gods” is a solid argument that Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH) was Muwahid (one who believes on oneness of Allah) and Kamil Al-Iman (faithful) and kept his complete faith on the Prophethood of the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) of which few of his couplets included in different historic books stand witness:

“Oh, the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) you have given me invitation to Islam and I am sure that you are true in your invitation towards Islam and you are already true and trustworthy . It is my faith that the religion of Muhammad (PBUH & HHP) is the best of all the religions of the world. By God, till Abu Talib (PBUH) is alive, these atheists could not even collectively cause any harm to you”. (Tareekh Abu Al-Fida)

“The master of all human beings is Allah and things under the sky belong to Him and all those who live in the sky are subservient to Him” (Deewan-e-Abu Talib)

Oh, Allah! Remain witness, “I am on the religion of Muhammd (PBUH & HHP), if the world is misguided then let it be but I am the one who is guided” (Sharah Al-Nahaj, edition 3, page 315)

The above mentioned couplets are the clear cut proof of the faith of Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH).

The chain of origin of Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH) is as below:

Abu Talib bin Abdul Muttalib bin Hashim bin Abd Munaf bin Qasi bin Kalab bin Marah bin Ka’ab bin Lawi bin Ghalib bin Fahr bin Malik bin Nasr bin Kananah bin Khazima bin Madarkah bin Ilyas bin Nazar bin Nazaar bin Ma’ad bin Adnan bin Aad bin Tamoor bin Baoor bin Ya’arab bin Yashjib bin Nabat bin Ismail bin Ibrahim bin Tarikh bin Saroogh bin Arwa’a bin Faneh bin Aabir bin Shamikh bin Arqahshid bin Saam bin Noah bin Lamak bin Mutwashlikh bin Khanookh bin Bard bin Mehlabel bin Laoof bin Anoosh bin Shees bin Adam (Mowahib Al-Wahib).

The scholars of Islam agreed that Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH) was on the religion of his forefathers and before the scholars and researchers of Islam none of the forefathers of the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) was atheist or infidel rather they all were Mohid and Momineen. Therefore, Imam Fakharuddin Razi says that:

The Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) said, “our forefathers were born in holy wedlock. Allah Has said that ifidels are impure”, thus it is necessary and binding that none of the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH & HHP) forefathers and mothers were infidels. This statement by Imam Fakhruddin Razi was accepted by all the leading scholars of Islam. (Seerat-e-Nabwiya with the annotation of Seerat-e-Halbia, edition-I)

Thus before the scholars belonging to the Sunni school of thought, Hazrat Abdul Muttalib (PBUH) was Mohid and Momin and the mother of Hazrat Abdulah (PBUH) was Mohida and Momina and Hazrat Abdul Muttalib (PBUH) was Abu Talib’s (PBUH) father and the mother of Hazrat Abdulah (PBUH) was the mother of Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH). All brothers of Hazrat Abdulah (PBUH) except Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH) were from different mothers. Only Hazrat Abdulah (PBUH) and Abu Talib (PBUH) were from the same mother.

And when Allah decided to transfer the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH & HHP) Noor from his grandfather Abdul Muttalib (PBUH), then Abdul Muttalib (PBUH) married Fatima binte Omer bin A’aiz bin Omer bin Makhzoom and Abu Talib and the father of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Abdulah (PBUH) were born to the above stated Fatima. (Seerat-e-Nabwiya)

It has been known that Hazrat Abu Talib’s (PBUH) father Hazrat Abdul Muttalib (PBUH) was Mohid and Momin who was the grandfather of the Holy Prophet and Imam Ali (PBUT); the respect and dignity of whom will continue to be remembered till the verse of elephant exist in the Holy Quran and the incident of Abraha is present in the history of mankind.

When Abraha attacked Ka’aba, Hazrat Abdul Muttalib (PBUH) praid to Almighty Allah in these words: “Oh, Allah! human protects his wealth, You protect your wealth and belongings i.e. Ka’aba; their catapults and their wickedness could not overcome your Authority” (Tabqaat Ibne Sa’ad, edition-I)

How can some one doubt the faith of those who posses such faith on Almighty Allah?

After the demise of Hazrat Abdul Muttalib (PBUH), Abu Talib (PBUH) was declared Syed Al-Arab  (the master of Arab; his tiltle) who fulfilled his duty of protecting the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP). Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH) looked after and protected the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) in such a manner that the historians left wondering.

Allama Shibli Naumani wrote: “Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH) loved the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) so much that he cared more for him than his own children. For his well being Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH) gave priority to his safety whenever the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) slept, similarly whenever he went out he took the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) with him”. (Seerat-un-Nabi, edition-I, page 112)

According to the Infaliable (PBUH), “Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH) should be rewarded twice because he was not only a Momin and Muslim but he also sacrificed his honour and dignity for the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH & HHP), the religion and Sharia. He preferred the well being, honour and dignity of the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) over his peace, dignity, greatness, honour and respect”. There is a saying of Hazrat Imam Muhammad Baqar (PBUH) that goes, “if the faith of the whole world is put on one side and the faith of Abu Talib (PBUH) on the other side, the faith of Abu Talib’s (PBUH) will remain heavy. He was the one who strengthened the foundation of Islam, protected the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH & HHP) and the one who introduced the world of humanity to Islam”.

The eloquence of Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH) was unmatched throughout the Arab world. According to Tareekh Ibne Kaseer, “Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH) used to say eloquent couplet the reply of which was very difficult to find in the Arabic literature. This quality of his was recognised by the Arab world” (Al-Badaya Wa Al-Nihaya, edition-III)

The master of Arab (his tiltle) sent these couplets to Najashi the King of Habshah which shows his knowledge, his dignity and respect on front of kings of that time and his ambassadorial expertise.

“Pious and respectable people know that Muhammad (PBUH & HHP) is the inheritor of Moses (PBUH) and Jesus son of  Mary (PBUT). For us he brought the same guidance as a gift that they both had brought. Oh! Nijashi, you are such a person, whenever the people of the nation of Muhammad (PBUH & HHP) reach you, they come back praising you and never brought back any bad experience with them” (Mustadrak Hakim, edition-2, with reference Ibne Ishaq)

The son of Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH), Hazrat Jafar-e-Tayyar (PBUH) while displaying his eloquence before the Nijashi, advocated Islam, the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH & HHP) and the Islamic beliefs in a manner that atheists of Makkah had to return disappointed.

There is a saying of the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) that goes: “I did not involve in evil things even in the era of ignorance, I was born through Islamic wedlock (Nikah). . My forefathers were all believers” (Madarij Al-Nabuwwat, editon-II, Shah Abdul Haq Mohaddids Dehlavi)

The Islamic wedding vows (Nikah) of the Holy Prophet of Allah (PBUH & HHP) with Hazrat Khadija (PBUH) was solemnized by Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH). The beginning of the Khutaba-e-Nikah recited by Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH) while solemnizing the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH & HHP) Nika was:

  (Madarij Al-Nabuwwat, edition-II, page 45)

Ibne Khaldoon with reference to the Khutba-e-Nikah of Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH) wrote:

(Tareekh Ibne Al-Khaldoon, edition-I, page 36)

The good deeds (Fazail O Manaqib) of Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH) are so many that even an unending chain of books could not cover them. The bringing up of the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH & HHP) by Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH) was given the certificate of acceptance by Allah with these words: Did He not find thee an orphan and protect (thee)?” (Surah Wazzuha, verse 6).

Allama Shabbir Ahmed Usmani in connection with the Tafseer of this verse says: “He (PBUH & HHP) remained under the guardianship of his grandfather (Abdul Muttalib) till the age of 8 years. Ultimately the honour of bringing up of the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) was entrusted to his immensely loving uncle Abu Talib (PBUH) who left no stone unturned in support, help, respect and following of the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP)”. (Tafseer-e-Usmani)

The history books are replete with Hazrat Abu Talib’s (PBUH) love, sacrifice, kindness, sponsorship, protection for the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP). If it is stated in brief then the atheists of Makkah could not cause any harm to the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) despite their hypocrisy, oppressions, conspiracies, influence, power and might during the life of Abu Talib (PBUH); soon after the demise of his helper and guardian, the oppression from atheists increased to such an extent that the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) had to leave his motherland and opt for migration. That is why the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) declared the year of the death of this great personality - the protector of Islam and its followers and the most oppressed faithful person as the “year of grief” (Aam ul Huzn).

It should be kept in mind that what ever the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) says or does and whatever is stated and done in front of him and he remains silent, that is called his traditions.

“ Is the return for the good not good”

There are only two personalities in the universe who sacrificed their lives, wealth, honour and dignity upon the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) and his holy offspring (PBUT). One is Fatima Zahra’s (PBUH) mother Hazrat Khadija (PBUH) and the other is father of Ali Al-Murtaza (PBUH) Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH). Is remembering about the good deeds of these personalities not mandatory for every follower of the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP)?

Today the Islamic World is confronted with dangers and every country and Maslak is under the attack from the Abrahas of this era on the basis of which not only all Muslim states are worried and fearful they are becoming their target one by one. It is unfortunate that the Muslim rulers are themselves being used by the colonial powers and are busy cutting the same branch of the tree on which they are sitting. The motherland Pakistan is also being punished because it keeps basic idelogy of Islam dears. If we want to save ourselves from the Abrahas of this era and their agents then the way Abu Talib (PBUH) protected the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) similarly we will have to display the unity and brotherhood inorder to fight against the blasphemers of the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) and  the enemies of Islam while following in the foot steps of Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH), We also will have to be ready to confront all the problems and difficulties for the protection of the religion of Islam by following the pious character and the path of Abu Talib (PBUH).

By acting upon the traditions of the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP), on the occasion of the “Universal Days of Grief” throughout Pakistan and worldwide while paying condolence to the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) and his pious family (PBUT) on the death anniversary of the helper and protector of the Holy Prophet, Hazrat Abu Talib (PBUH), we announce our commitment to continue raising the voice of truth for the protection, honour and dignity of Islam, Pakistan, pious personalities and signs attributed to Islam and the Islamic World. We will also continue our support for the oppressed and have-nots and condemn the world of oppression and aggression and would not even hesitate in sacrificing our lives in the path of truthfulness.

Wasalaam
