Inal Hayat Aqeedatun wa Jahad
Belief (Aqqeda)
is the singular of (Aqqaed) beliefs that means making a strong tie,
a strong promise and commitment, which is related with the human
heart. Similarly belief means a thinking and an ideology that leave
an impression on human heart and the imagination that overcomes
one’s mind and heart completely and then coerces one into adopting a
particular life-style and remains stuck to this strong belief and
ideology for whole of one’s life. That is why the human belief and
ideology rule the human feelings. Our belief is that Islam is our
religion because Almighty Allah declared it most liked religion. (Inal
deen indallah il Islam) and Zurarah Bin A'yun quotes that he has
copied from Hazrat Imam Muhammad Baqar (PBUH) that he stated;

There are five fundamentals on which Islam
rests: (1) Namaz (Salat), (2) Zakat, (3) Hajj, (4) Fast, (5) Wilayat.
Late Tareehi says in Kitaab Jama Al-Bahrain
that Wilayat is commensurate with the love of the family of the Holy
Prophet (PBUT) and their following in the religion. That family of
the Holy Prophet (PBUT) whose love has been declared as the reward
for the Prophethood

And the name of one of
those personalities is Hussain (PBUH) who offered a historic
sacrifice for the supremacy of Islam and made the standard of Islam
flutter high.

Hussain (PBUH) is that
warrior with principle, the authentic worshipper
Who enhances the image
of Islam with the glow of his blood
History stands witness that the Imam Aali
Muqaam (Imam Hussain PBUH) preferred to be beheaded but did not bow
down, preached a lesson to support struggle (Jehad) against the evil
and told human beings to live for human dignity and for the pleasure
of Allah and made them understand that death in honour is better
than life in disguise. That is why Wilayat of Ali Ibne Abi Talib
(PBUH), love of the Holy Prophet and his Holy Progeny (PBUT) and
grief for Imam Hussain (PBUH) is in our genes and for the same
reason I have chosen this topic that, “life is the name of belief
and struggle for it and Jehad

The mourning for Imam Hussain (PBUH)
(Azadari-e-Imam Mazloom) that is the protest of the world of
oppressed against oppression and brutality is actually a struggle
for the promotion of Hussainiat. The evil world after the demise of
the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) to date, utilised all their energy in
concealing their good deeds (Manaqib) and today they are after
Azadari and are busy day in and day out hatching new conspiracies
against it and the internal enemy is more active against it than
external enemy because it has come to his knowledge that Azadari is
an enlightened minaret for the protection of the religion and Sharia
and it is the biggest weapon; sometimes the enemy raises objections
on grievous acts and tears, sometimes raises objective of Matam-e-Qamah
and Zanjeer-Zani and sometimes declares shedding their own blood is
not allowed and this blood may be given to patients instead.

those who are
complaining about the grief expressed for Imam Hussain (PBUH) let
them know the grief of Imam Hussain (PBUH) is the worship which
keeps us alive
The Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) shed tears on the
birth of Hazrat Imam Hussain (PBUH). Upon asking the reason, he said
a rebel group will kill this son of mine. According to one of the
traditions the lady of the heaven Hazrat Fatima Zahra (PBUH) asked
her beloved father, the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH & HHP), “When
will my son have to face these problems?” He said this era will be
the one when neither I or Ali, you or Hassan (PBUT) will be around.

Hazrat Fatima Zahra (PBUH) asked: “Oh my
beloved father (Baba Jaan), in such an era and dilapidated
conditions, when my son will kiss martyrdom, who will shed tears on
his trouble and who will organise Majalis, Matam, and Aza?”

The Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) said, “My dear
daughter, don't worry, women from my nation will shed tears on the
trouble of the pious ladies of my Household (Khawateen e
Ismat-o-Taharat) and on the troubles of our men the true believers
(men) will shed tears after remembering their troubles.

and will revive the Azadari of your son year
after year, one nation after the other

and when the Day of Judgment will dawn then you
will do the intercession of those women and I will do the same for
those men and whichever faithful will shed tears on Hussain (PBUH),
we will hold his/her hand and will enter them into the heaven”.

We are the result (fruit) of
the prayers of Zahra (PBUH), those who stay away from Azadari mourn
only their fate
Today, the
objection is raised to perform Azadari at home or in Imam Bargahs,
why does it have to be on roads? Azadari actually is the eternal
protest against oppressors of every era.

Tears which are flowing
from eyes, are diminishing the strength of oppression
And the Holy Quran itself permits us to lodge
protests against the oppressor:

God loveth not that evil. Should be noised
abroad in public speech, except where injustice hath been done; for
God is He who heareth and knoweth all things. (Surah Nisaa, Ayah
148)
In other words, Sharia has firmly directed that
if you see any evil of any one do not make it public rather make
them understand about it in private but if it is in the public
interest then religion demands we protest against the oppression of
that oppressor. According to a tradition of the Holy Prophet (PBUH &
HHP), a person came to the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP) and told him
that his neighbour caused him trouble. He (PBUH & HHP) advised him
to bring his household items and put them on the road. He did the
same. Therefore, whoever passed through would have asked him what
happened and he told them about the oppressive attitude meted out to
him by his neighbour. On listening, every passerby would curse that
neighbour. [(Sunan Abi Daud. Kitaab Al-Adab); with reference Shah
Fahd Quran Printing, Ministry For Islamic Affairs, Endowment, Dawa
and Guidance, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia]
So when Quran and the tradition of the Holy
Prophet (PBUH & HHP) (Sunna) have given the common man the right to
raise his voice against oppression then there is no one more
oppressed than Imam Hussain, the son of Imam Ali (PBUH) and there is
no bigger incident than the tragedy of Karbala. Therefore, it is
included in the obligation of every mourner (Azadar) to highlight
the oppression of the biggest oppressor of the world of oppressors,
Yazid and the biggest source to highlight and disseminate it is the
mourning of Imam Hussain (Azadari Imam Aali Muqaam) of which the
Yazidi world is still afraid. Yazid and his men committed so big an
oppression that if it had been concealed then there would have been
no sign of religion or Sharia the world over.
The test of Imam Hussain (PBUH) began from the
Fajr prayers on the Day of Ashoor and finished at Asr prayers. Imam
Hussain (PBUH) carried the bodies of his faithful companions, and
pious offspring and then, bearing the thirst, heat and his wounds,
kissed martyrdom and reached the fountain of Kausar in heaven to
quench his thirst from the water of Kausar. But Sani-e-Zehra, Ummul
Masaib, Hazrat Zainab (PBUH) remained involved in this mission along
with her brother and was called Sharikat-ul-Hussain (PBUH). She then
bore the tough time in the streets of Kufa and Sham and the
attendance in the courts of Ibne Zayad and Yazid (CBUT) and
delivered addresses in the voice and style of her father Imam Ali
(PBUH) shattering the Yazidi courts and letting the world know about
the assassins of Hussain (PBUH); “Do not ever say that Yazid
was the rightful caliph of the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP)”.
Who else could go through such ordeals except those with the quality
and greatness of the pious family of the Holy Prophet of Islam
(PBUT) and the effect of Hazrat Fatima Zehra's (PBUH) milk that
Hazrat Zainab (PBUH) bore all types of hardships, cruelty and
barbarity with patience and forbearance and unveiled Yazidiat and
told the world that this bloodshed could not be concealed that was
being concealed. It was the job done by Zainab (PBUH) the daughter
of Ali (PBUH) and Batool (PBUH).

The tradition of
love contain two chapters, Karbala and Damishq
One was written by
Hussain (PBUH) the other by Zainab (PBUH)
Imam Hussain (PBUH) belongs to all and Hussain
(PBUH) belongs to Almighty Allah, every nation would call that
Hussain (PBUH) is theirs, which is the great blessing of Zainab
(PBUH) and Imam Zainul Abideen (PBUH). Hussain's sacrifice is what
was called Fadaina ho be Zibhe Azeem.

What is Azadari? Not forgetting Hussain (PBUH)
from memory. Therefore Imam Raza (PBUH) told Rayan Bin Shabib on
first of Muharram during a conversation:

If you, Oh son of Shabib, desire to remain on a
high place in the heaven with us, then observe mourning on our grief
and remain happy on our happiness and it is binding on you to remain
convinced of our Wilayat and Muwaddat because if a person keeps
friend with a stone then he will be brought up with that stone on
the Day of Judgement (Ayoon Akhbar Al-Raza, Edition 1).
Hussain (PBUH) is that oppressed on whom the
universe and everything in it shed tears therefore the Quran-e-Natiq
Imam Jafar-e-Sadiq (PBUH) stated:

Oh, Zurarah, no doubt, the sky shed blood for
40 days on my oppressed forefather Imam Hussain (PBUH) (Sharah Al-Masaib,
part one)

And on this oppressed person earth shook for 40
days, the sun spread redness for 40 mornings and mountains were
shattered into pieces in the grief of Imam Hussain (PBUH), rivers
overflowed and angels mourned and shed tears for 40 days on Imam
Hussain (PBUH). Oh, Zurarah, from the day my forefather kissed
martyrdom no woman from Hashmia clan dyed their hair or used Mehndi,
they did not use oil in their hair or use a comb, nor did they use
kohl until the head of Ibne Ziad (CBUH) was brought before us (and
this deed was performed by Mukhtar Saqafi that is why Imam Zainul
Abideen (PBUH) prayed for him that Allah may reward him well) He
continued, Oh, Zurarah, we the family of the Holy Prophet (PBUT)
always shed tears for our oppressed forefather.
Whenever water was presented before the Fourth
Imam Zainul Abideen (PBUH), he used to shed tears in a way that pot
before him used to fill with blood from his eyes. The heads of the
martyrs of Karbala were raised on the points of spear ahead of
camels ridden by the captives of Karbala from the family of the Holy
Prophet (PBUT) and the head of the master of the martyrs Syed-us-Shuhada
shone in front of them all, and resembled the Holy Prophet (PBUH &
HHP). The beard of the Imam Hussain (PBUH) (Aali Muqaam) was dyed
with his blood yet his face was bright as moon. When Sani-e-Zehra,
Hazrat Zainab (PBUH) looked towards the holy head of Imam Hussain
(PBUH) she hit her head on the wooden 'Mehmil' of the camel she was
riding upon which the blood started flowing from her forehead. She
looked toward the holy head and said, Oh, brother Hussain (PBUY)! O!
Moon that set before reaching its heights. Hazrat Rubab, the mother
of Sakina (PBUH) always sat in the scorching sunlight after the
martyrdom of Imam Hussain (PBUH) and never sat in the shade in the
daytime, as a result of which her face used to bleed. (Ref:

The Hadi of this Era Imam Al-ASR Imam Mehdi
(PBUH) addressing his forefather says in Ziarat-e-Nahya, “Salam
from who is very sad on your troubles and is upset, Salam from one
who would have thrown himself into the swords had he been with you
in the plains of Karbala and ready to kiss martyrdom, would have
showered even the last drop of his blood on you. I would have helped
you against the rebels by carrying Jihad along with you and I would
have sacrificed my life, belongings, wealth and offspring on you;
sacrifice my soul and that of my family on your soul. And when the
period delayed me and stopped me from helping you, I could not fight
with those who fought with you and could not stand in front of your
enemies in the battlefield, so now will shed tears day and night
restlessly on your troubles and will shed blood from my eyes instead
of just tears”. That means that Imam Al-ASR is the biggest
mourner of Imam Hussain (PBUH) (Azadar) of this era who is shedding
blood instead of simple tears (this is the lesson for those who lure
the mourners into giving up Qama-Zani and Zanjeer-Zani and instead
donating blood in hospitals).

let them know who say
that shedding blood is an innovation (in Islam)
those who are the
supporter of the oppressed (Imam Hussain (PBUH)) they mourn while
performing Tatbeer (shedding blood by hitting head with sword)
Haji Mullah Sultan Ali Tibraizi who was a very
pious person saw Imam Al-ASR (MAHHA) in his dream and asked him,
“You have said in the Ziarat-e-Nahiah that I will shed tears day and
night restlessly on your troubles and will shed blood from my eyes
instead of tears. Is that correct?” The Imam Al-ASR (MAHHA) said yes
it is correct. Haji Mullah Sultan Tibraizi says that I asked which
trouble it was on which he shed blood instead of tears, whether it
was the trouble faced by Hazrat Shahzada Ali Akbar (PBUH), he
replied 'No'. Had Hazrat Ali Akbar (MAHHA) remained alive at the
time of that trouble, he would have also shed blood instead of
tears. Sultan Ali Tibraizi says that I submitted whether it is the
trouble of Ghazi Abbas (PBUH). He replied 'No' rather he would have
also shed blood instead of tears had he been alive. I submitted was
it the trouble of your oppressed forefather Imam Hussain (PBUH), he
replied 'No'. He would have also shed blood instead of tears had he
been alive. Mullah Tibraizi says that I enquired from the Imam
Al-ASR (MAHHA), my master then which trouble is the one for which
you are shedding blood. He replied that trouble is the journey of my
womenfolk without their veils as the crowds watched / imprisonment
of my foremother Zainab (PBUH)” (ref Shaiftgaan-e-Imam Mehdi).
That is why when Imam Zainul Abideen (PBUH) was
asked that when they faced the biggest trouble, he said Al-Shaam,
Al-Shaam, Al-Shaam.

Sajjad was asked where he faced the most
traumas. Thrice he repeated Shaam, when my womenfolk walked through
the jeering throng without veils
Oh, the
followers of Hussain (PBUH), keep in mind that Azadari is our
religious symbol that is going on for ever unabated. You are under
obligation to shed tears with devotion and love in the grief of Imam
Hussain (PBUH) by paying the reward of the Prophethood and by
preaching Wilayat, perform Matamdari, Qamah-Zani and Zanjeer-Zani
because in it lies the survival of Sharia which guarantees our
survival. Follow the will of my teacher Hazrat Imam Khomeini that he
made about Azadari.
"How Syed-us-Shuhada Hazrat Imam Hussain (PBUH)
made us follow his ideology. The Imam Mazloom who made us coherent
in this way, should we not express our grief on his martyrdom and
the troubles he faced, not mourn and shed tears for him. This
mourning (Azadari-e-Imam Mazloom) has kept us safe to-date, woke us
up, kept us awake, what do these evildoers desire from us? We should
not fall prey to their fraudulent act, they desire to snatch Azadari
Imam Aali Muqaam by deceiving us, avoid their satanic tactics. It is
the religious and Sharia duty of the Ulema-e-Haq to organise
Majalis-e-Aza and people in general are under the obligation to
participate in the Azadari of Imam Aali Muqaam Imam Hussain (PBUH)
with utmost honour and respect and perform Matamdari with extreme
devotion. Some pious hearts ask that we are observing the mourning
of the Imam Mazloom for centuries, shedding tears and performing
Matamdari, will keep on doing so in future also but what is the use
of it? Imam Mazloom (PBUH) is not dependant on our deeds even if we
mourned the Syed-us-Shuhada our whole life and shed tears but this
Azadari is suitable and profitable for us (Saheefa-e-Noor, edition
8).
Do not even think of any changes in the Day of
Ashoor processions. Do not give these processions the shape of any
long march, maintain them in line with your previous patterns and
traditions with the same acts of Matamdari, and Noha-Khwani rather
maintain with more dignified manner from that of previous
traditions, if possible. This is the key to success. Long march is a
political thing and let us separate from it. The whole country
should be the Imam Bargah, everyone should be Zakir, and everyone
should be an Azadar, where would you find more unity than here?
Which nation in the world is so united as we are? Where does this
unity came from, it is the blessing of the Mazloom-e-Karbala. (1400
Hijra, Shab-e-Awwal Muharram, Imam Khomeini's R.A. address to
Waizeen and Zakireen at Qum Al-Muqaddash)
Not only Ayatollah Khomeini rather Marajah of
every era have stated the virtue of Azadari, Qama-Zani and Tatbeer
(Matam on head with sword). They kept on stressing its development.
Today a worldwide drive has started to donate blood to patients
instead of shedding it in the grief of Imam Hussain (PBUH). Those
who are doing so as per a saying of Imam Khomeini, "Desire to snatch
Azadari Imam Aali Muqaam from us by deceiving us". Therefore, being
the dust of the feet of the mourners of Imam Hussain (PBUH), it is
my message for Matmi Azadaran the world over to continue the chain
of Aza-e-Hussaini by all means, because:

On the Day of Judgement
when the heat of the sun will be unbearable
The mourners will be
under the shade of the veil of Hazrat e Zahra (PBUH)
Azadari is the protest of the oppressed and no
one could set the limits and boundaries of the protest to-date. The
great Marajah-e-Azzam of the present era have given a fit reply to
those who donate blood instead of shedding their blood in the grief
of Imam Hussain (PBUH). The Marjah-e-Kabeer of Najaf-e-Ashraf
Ayatollah Al-Uzma Al-Syed Saeed al Hakeem says: "There is supremacy
and reward in Tatbeer (Matam on head with sword). And it is not
possible for us to compare and compete its reward with the reward of
other good deeds.
Ayatollah Al-Uzmah Almirza Jawwad Al-Tibraizi,
who pays condolences to the mother of Imam Hussain (PBUH)
bare-footed on the roads of Qum Al-Muqaddisa says: "One who donates
blood has no relation with the Azadari Syed-us-Shuhada and becoming
mournful on his troubles. The propaganda of the opponents could not
shatter us, they have many accusations, it is obligatory for we
faithful that we protect the Azadari of Syed-us-Shuhada, and of his
Ahle Bait and companions. Thus struggling for these matters is the
right path for reaching the reality of the Shia faith. May Allah
protect them (Sha'air Hussainia) from the evil thinking and
deceptiveness of the enemies like He protected them from different
period to-date and no doubt, Allah is the One Who gives strength and
is Hadi leading us towards a right path." (Kitaab Al-Sha'air Al-Hussainia,
page 18).
The grand Ayatollah Al-Uzmah Al-Syed Sadiq Al-Shirazi
says: "Giving blood is legal but (through it) stopping the
Sha'air-e-Hussainia rather even thinking of it is not commensurate
with the dignity of Mawali-e-Ahle Bait (PBUH)."
The grand Ayatollah Al-Syed Ali Hussaini
Seestani states the history of Matam on head with sword in these
words: "Whereas the shedding of own blood in the grief of Imam
Hussain (PBUH) is historically related, that is copied by Mohibuddin
Tibri in his book (lum takun radta page No. 272), that:

(The Bahraini people first time shed their
blood by hitting swords on their heads 9 days after the martyrdom of
Imam Hussain (PBUH) in 61 Hijra).
The
detail of this incident of shedding blood in the grief of Imam
Hussain (PBUH) is stated that when people from Kufa sent letters to
Imam Hussain (PBUH) to come to us in Kufa. When he thought of going
to Kufa, he sent letters to his Shias in different areas i.e. Syria,
Yemen, Bahrain and Jabal-e-Amil and invited them to meet him in
Iraq. A very big contingent led by Sa'asa'a Bin Sohan (who was one
of the companions of Amirul Momineen Hazrat Ali Ibne Abi Talib PBUH)
set out from Bahrain to Iraq and came to know in Basrah that Imam
Hussain (PBUH) has left for Karbala. When this contingent reached
Karbala, the Bani Asad informed them of Imam Hussain's (PBUH)
martyrdom. They asked about the holy grave of the Imam (PBUH) and
were led to the grave. They started crying and hugging the grave of
Syed-us-Shuhada and took out their swords and started performing
Matam on their heads and through this Matam they covered Imam
Hussain's (A.S.) grave with the blood shed from their heads. (Basharat-ul-Konain
Baqamat Al-Matam Alal-Hussain, page 84 to 85, published Najaf).
We observe Arbaeen-e-Hussaini as a Sunnah of
Sharikat-ul-Hussain Syeda Zainab Binte Ali (PBUH) like all Sha'air
of Azadari.
Your actions taught us
how to mourn Hussain (PBUH)
Your words showed the world the reality of his sacrifice
When Yazid (ACBUH)
released Ahle Bait Ismat and Taharat from imprisonment, he sent
Bashir, who was the follower of Khanwada-e-Ismat and Taharat, with
the Ahle Bait Athaar (PBUT) to Madina and he very protectively and
safely took the captives of Karbala (PBUT) to Karbala first. It is a
famous saying that when this caravan reached Karbala, it was the day
of Arbaeen and the companions of the Holy Prophet, Hazrat Jabir Ibne
Abdullah Ansari (R.A.) was already present there. Thus a hue and cry
was raised, the earth began shattering, the sky started shivering,
and Ahle Bait (PBUH) reached the Maqtal of Shuhada crying. It was
like a Day of Judgement, voices of Haey Hussain, Waey Hussain were
being raised from all around and when the Sani-e-Zehra looked at the
holy grave of brother Hussain (PBUH) she opened her arms and hugged
the grave and the greatest woman of Karbala and the lion hearted
daughter of Haider-e-Karrar (A.S.) fell unconscious

Anxious to her brother
meet
She falls, does not dismount
And lays a mourning blanket which
Till qayamat Hussain's (message) will recount
In short, when Hazrat Zainab (PBUH) would not
leave the grave, tears rolling down from her eyes, her heart imbibed
with grief, Syed-us-Sajideen Imam Zainul Abideen (PBUH) came near
her and said, “dear aunt (Phupee Amman), we have to go to Madina,
then the Sani-e-Zehra Hazrat Zainab (PBUH) said, "Oh, the earth of
Karbala, I entrust this divine light (Noor-e-Khuda) who is the
source of blessing here and the Hereafter to you."
The sister who could not cry on the body of his
brother while going to Shaam from Karbala after her arrest,
highlighted the mission of her brother in Kufa and Shaam by bearing
many trouble and in such a manner that today echoes of Ya Hussain
(PBUH) are being raised from all corners of the universe. Today
every honourable person is shedding tears in the grief of Imam
Hussain (PBUH.

You relayed the concept
of the mourning for Imam Hussain (PBUH) in such a way, that it is
impossible for anyone to stop or hide it
On this occasion of Arbaeen-e-Hussain, I advise
the mourner of Imam Hussain (PBUH) not to fall prey to the
propaganda of conspiracies diverting them from Azadari.

Don't be impressed by
who they are, or even what they wear
A split second doubt is all it takes
To lose what we hold dear
I would like to make it clear that Azadari does
not need our protection; it is the protector of Shi'ites in every
era. All superpowers united, all assets, all missiles, rockets,
explosives, gathered could not stop the way of the grief of Imam
Hussain (PBUH). This Matam is guarded by the chaddarless sister of
Hussain (PBUH) and the chopped-off arms of Abbas Alamdar (PBUH) that
is also surrounded by the prayers of Fatima Zehra (PBUH). Those who
throw stones on Sha'air-e-Hussain and are trying to mislead the
mourners should fear from the mother of Imam Hussain (PBUH) and from
that day when the culprits of the daughter of the Holy Prophet
(PBUH) will find no place for them to hide. On the mournful occasion
of Arbaeen-e-Hussaini we are presenting condolence in the court of
the Hujjat-e-Doran (PBUH) and the mother of Imam Hussain (PBUH) and
reiterate our resolve to always confront the enemies of Wila and
Aza.

Accept our meagre
offering
Oh mother of Hussain (PBUH)
Our lives we'd gladly lay at your feet,
Our tears are all we have
